Looking for affordable housing? Beautifully renovated homes and infill brand new homes are available in established inner city neighbourhoods.
HOP Homes are generally found in the West End of Winnipeg in the "Spence Neighbourhood" and "Daniel Mac/St Matthews" neighbourhoods (borders east of Arlington Street, west of Balmoral Street, south of Notre Dame Avenue and north of Portage Avenue).
WHRC Homes are generally found in William Whyte, North Point Douglas and Centennial neighbourhoods of the North End.
Meet the qualifications (see below) and you can own a home with new appliances and a 5% downpayment plus $1500 towards closing costs ($9000 maximum)! Sound too good to be true? The HOP (Housing Opportunity Partnership) Program or the WHRC (Winnipeg Housing Rehabilitation Corporation) Program may be for you!
Qualifications / conditions are as follows:
Family income cannot exceed $64,606 / year
Homes must be owner occupied and cannot be rented.
You must be able to qualify for a mortgage to purchase the property.

At this point you will be added to our waiting list. Homes are offered to prospective buyers on our waiting list in the order that their mortgage pre-approval letters were received. Please note that being added to our waiting list neither obligates you to buy nor guarantees you a home through this program.
5% downpayment plus $1500 towards closing costs ($9000 Maximum) - if you have not owned a home in the last 5 years, you may qualify for a 5% downpayment plus $1500 towards closing costs to purchase a HOP or WHRC home.
A forgivable second mortgage (over 10 years) will be placed against the property should you try to sell the property within the first 10 years of owning the home. You can sell the home within the 10 year period subject to the approval of the Manitoba Housing Renewal Corporation or by paying back the remainder of the second mortgage.
Sale prices are generally between $120,000 and $169,900 for homes (except for special circumstances or program changes). Condominiums will most likely be purchased between the prices of $99,900 and $129,900.
